Big Society Fund (for members)

The West Sussex Members Big Society Fund (WSMBSF) has been created to help County Councillors help their local residents achieve Big Society objectives. Members of the County Council can apply to the fund in order to support special projects that fit the criteria detailed below.

Criteria

In order to be considered for Big Society funding, the proposal must:

  • be submitted by and have the support of the local member of the County Council;
  • be of significance to the community in the ward that your local County Councillor represents or that of West Sussex as a whole;
  • be both sustainable and of lasting benefit;
  • meet at least one of the three principal strands of the Big Society Agenda - Social Action, Public Service Reform and Community Empowerment;
  • be consistent with the County Council’s aims and objectives; and
  • be unable to obtain funding from a County Council service or any other local council or government funded organisation.

In order to be considered for a grant from this fund, you need to contact your local member to discuss your proposal. He/she will then be in a position to decide whether to submit an application to the Fund on your behalf. The final decision on whether to allocate funding will be made by the Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources.

Find out who your local member is and how to contact him/her.
