RSS feeds
RSS feeds are available for the
following areas:
What is an RSS feed?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. An RSS feed, sometimes
also called a news feed, allows you to see when
a website has been updated or new information has been
added.
How to start using feeds
You will need one of the following to read RSS feeds:
Web browser - Most browsers, including Firefox,
Internet Explorer and Safari, have a browser-based
news reader that will automatically check for feeds when
you visit a website. If there is an RSS feed
available the browser will display the orange RSS icon shown
above.
Web-based news reader - Web-based news readers
can be used to check feeds and displays when new updates are
available.
Email news reader - Some email providers allow
you to see when RSS feeds that you have subscribed to have been
updated.
There are a range of news readers available and new versions are
appearing all the time. For further information, search for RSS
feeds in a search engine.
How to subscribe to a feed
Once you have decided on the news reader to use, all
you have to do is decide what content you want to receive updates
on.
You can either:
- drag the URL of the feed into your news reader; or
- cut and paste the URL of the feed into your news reader.
