Introduction
The West Sussex Sustainability Forum is an independent strategic partnership of public, private and voluntary organisations was brought together in 1994 by West Sussex County Council in response to the Agenda 21 declaration which came from the 1992 Rio Earth Summit. The Forum is managed by a Steering Group drawn from its members
The Forum aims to encourage individuals, organisations and communities in West Sussex to play their part in creating a better quality of life for current and future generations by living and working in a sustainable way.
In March 2005 they launched Time for Action a West Sussex Sustainability Strategy to provide an overarching guide for achieving sustainable development in West Sussex.
The Forum meets three times a year to increase understanding of, and help attendees to develop actions which address specific issues outlined in Time for Action. Topics have included the visitor economy, communicating sustainability and climate change. After each meeting a newsletter is produced which summarises the information presented and discussions on the day.
