Structure Plan 2001-2016

LATEST NEWS

Under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, the policies of the adopted West Sussex Structure Plan were due to expire on 24 October 2007 unless the Government decided that they should be saved for a longer period.  Following representations from the County Council, the Government has decided that six of the 46 policies will not be saved beyond 24 October 2007 - read the letter (PDF, 71KB) from the South East England Regional Assembly.  (Please note that the letter refers, wrongly, to 27 September 2007 not 24 October 2007.)

The policies not saved, in plan order, are NE2 (Housing Provision), NE4 (Managing the Release of Housing Land), NE9 (Town, Village, District and Neighbourhood Centres), NE22 (Disused Transport Land), ERA7 (Energy Generation and Supply), and ERA8 (Waste).

The saved policies will continue to form part of the statutory 'development plan' and provide part of the strategic policy framework for development control decisions and the preparation of new development plan documents to be prepared as part of the Minerals and Waste Development Framework and the District and Borough Councils' Local Development Frameworks.
