Meals on Wheels
The Meals on Wheels service in West Sussex is delivered by the
Royal Voluntary Service (RVS). The RVS is a charity that has helped
older people stay independent at home and active in their local
community for over 75 years.
The Meals on Wheels service not only provides essential
nutritious meals but also makes sure older people have contact
with others. Our teams also conduct Safe and Well checks.
Without these vital services older people can be at increased risk
of malnourishment, dehydration or acute loneliness.
RVS West Sussex Meals on Wheels is serviced by centres in
Crawley and Rustington. Please see the attached map
below of what centre services which areas.
About the service
The service gives customers the option to have a chilled
meal cooked for them in their own home by one of our
service assistants, or drivers to cook the meal in one of our
specially adapted vehicles. As your needs change, so does the
service, which is fully flexible to suit your requirements.
There are over 20 different hot meals to choose from, plus
salads. Additionally, locally produced afternoon tea packs are
available, which include a sandwich or a bap, together with a daily
cake choice. These are delivered alongside the main meals to
customers on a daily basis should you wish.
Deliveries are made by a mix of volunteers and paid drivers, all
of which are checked by the
Disclosure and Barring Service, and all carry identification
