Local distinctiveness study of West Sussex

How to retain local distinctiveness if you're a land developer or manager.

'Local distinctiveness’ is the essence of what makes a place special to us. It is the combination of the cultural landscape, wildlife, archaeology, history, geology, topography, traditions, buildings, materials and crafts.

Local distinctiveness guidance complements and expands upon the landscape character assessment of West Sussex and the associated land management guidelines.

The guidance can help communities, planners, developers, businesses and landowners build local distinctiveness into development and land management decisions.
