We want to make sure you feel safe and secure within your own community. This section tells you how you can protect yourself and others, and reduce any risks in the environment in which you live.

Crime and community safety survey

'I feel Safe' is a key crime and community safety question and it is vital that we know the public's views. To help shape future priorities we are asking anyone who is a resident in West Sussex to help us by completing this short survey.

Safer seasons campaign

The West Sussex Strategic Community Safety Partnership brings together district and borough crime reduction partnerships to provide a co-ordinated approach to reducing crime in the county.

West Sussex Strategic Community Safety Partnership

There are 7 Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships in West Sussex, one for each District and Borough. These partnerships work together to provide a co-ordinated approach to reducing crime and disorder in West Sussex, and making residents and visitors alike feel safer.

Community Safety in West Sussex

Community Safety is a term that encompasses all agencies working to reduce crime across West Sussex. Much of this work is delivered via the statutory Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRPs) based in each district and borough.

Partnerships

Local authorities and the Police work closely together to reduce crime, reduce anti-social behaviour and reduce the fear of crime.

Safer public spaces

Public spaces are essential to the quality of life for West Sussex residents. They can be the focus of work and leisure which include markets, parks and other places that should be accessible to all.

Safer roads

WSCC Community Safety Unit work closely with our partners to reduce the number of casualties and collisions on West Sussex roads.

The Safer Place Awards

Details of the Safer Place Awards 0910, designed to empower and equip young people to tackle crime, the fear of crime and anti-social behaviour.

Safeguarding vulnerable adults

West Sussex County Councilworks hard to safeguard vulnerable adults against abuse. Abuse of vulnerable adults is a significant and socially important feature of society which has considerable cost to those affected.
