How to find us

  • By Car
    Approaching Haywards Heath follow signs to the Council Offices. These are situated in Boltro Road, which is about half a mile west of the main shopping area on South Road. Haywards Heath Library is near the top of Boltro Road and there is a visitors car park behind the library. This car park is for all visitors to the council offices and is often full, but there is limited parking on adjacent roads. There are other car parks located on the map.

  • By Bus 
    Several buses run along Perrymount Road which is about 5 minutes walk from Boltro Road.
     
  • By Train
    Haywards Heath train station has exits onto Boltro Road where the library is situated.


There are 2 disabled parking spaces on the left hand side of the library, accessible from Boltro Road. There is a ramp leading to the automatic front doors.

Mobile Libraries in the Haywards Heath area

The mobile library visits:

  • Cuckfield and Lindfield weekly on a Friday
  • Balcombe weekly on a Monday
  • West Hoathly, Horsted Keynes, Scaynes Hill, Franklands Village, Haywards Heath (Greenhill Way), and Ardingly fortnightly on a Tuesday.

Knit and Natter

Enjoy stitching and a chat?

Like to meet new people?

Do you enjoy knitting, crochet, embroidery or any other kind of stitching? Would you be interested in meeting like-minded people, sharing knowledge, or nattering about your knitting?

We plan to start a Knit and Natter group here at Haywards Heath Library, beginning Monday 16 April 2012 and then every 3rd Monday of the month.

Baby rhyme time - For babies and children 0 to 2

Come and join Baby Rhyme Time with rhymes, songs and musical instruments.
Sessions run from 9.45am - 10.15am every Tuesday.

There is no charge.

Parents and carers are asked to remain with their children.

Baby Rhyme Time for Dads

We are introducing a Baby Rhyme Time for dads, grandfathers, uncles, and brothers. The first session will be on Saturday, 30th June from 10.30am 11.00am.

Come along and join in with songs and jingles for babies from birth to age 2. No need to book.

There is no charge. More dates will be announced shortly.

Storytime 

Storytime is held every Wednesday morning from 10.00am - 10.25am

All children from age 2 - 5 are welcome.
Come along to listen to a reading of picture books specifically chosen for this age group.

Parents or carers are asked to remain on the premises.

Public Access Computers

Please note that the Adult Education Service is currently holding computer courses in Haywards Heath Library on Thursday mornings until 24 May. We regret that the computers will not be available to the public on these mornings and for any inconvenience caused.

If you are interested in joining the course please contact the Adult Education Service on 01444 236355.

If you come down to the library today……

Join us for a special Teddy Bears’ Picnic Storytime and Craft Activity.

Suitable for under 7s, all bears welcome! Light refreshments provided. Parents and Carers are asked to remain with their child during this activity.

    You can send a Fax within the UK, European Union, or the rest of the world for a small charge and arrange for a Fax to be sent to the library for you to collect.

  • Housebound services
    If you are unable to get to Haywards Heath library and have no one to go for you, we can arrange for a volunteer to deliver your books or audio books. Please ask for the Housebound Reader application form.

  • Electronic Catalogue access
    There is 1 Viewpoint terminal in the library let you look at the county catalogue. You can see what you have on loan and when it is due back. You can also renew and make reservations. To do this, you need a Personal Identification Number (PIN). Please ask for this in the library.

  • Internet access
    We have 8 internet terminals, for which there is a charge. 1 terminal is a designated Assistive Technology terminal, with priority given to disabled users. Please ring or come in person to check availability.

    Haywards Heath library has a good collection of general reference books, including some business directories to support our information service. If we cannot answer an enquiry locally we will refer it to one of our larger reference libraries.

    There is a selection of resources on the history of the Mid Sussex area. This includes Sussex Directories 1792-1938 and Clarke's Mid Sussex Directories 1883-1967 and 1881 census index for Sussex on microfiche.
