Opening hours
Burgess Hill Library will be closed from Friday 8 June 2012 at
5.30pm to Monday 2 July at 9.30am for installation of self service
machines and other minor improvements. We apologise for
any inconvenience this may cause.

How to find us
- On foot
The library has a combined
entrance with the Martlets Hall, accessible from the pedestrianised
shopping area.
- By car
Head for the main shopping area, just east of the London Road.
Parking is available at the following sites:
· Civic Way, just behind the library.
· Waitrose Store
· Queen Elizabeth Way, next to Macdonalds
· Church road
- By public transport
Buses stop in Civic Way and in Church Road. The railway station is
about 10 minutes walk away.
The library is on one floor and has a combined entrance with the
Martlets Hall which includes a ramp and an automatic door on the
right hand side.

What's new
Basic Computer Training: Hour Session every Wednesday (Term Time
Only) between 3.30pm - 4.45pm. The Trainers are students from
Hurstpierpoint College. Need to pre book session at Burgess Hill
Library.
Story time
All children aged between two - five are welcome
Mondays from 2.00pm - 2.30 pm.
Come along and listen to a lovely selection of stories specially
chosen for younger children.
Parents and Carers are asked to stay in the library.

Current charges
- Faxes
You can send a FAX within the UK, European Union, or the rest of
the world for a small charge.
You can arrange for a FAX to be sent to the library for you to
collect.
There is a reception fee per page.
- Electronic catalogue access
Viewpoint terminals in the library let you look at the county catalogue and those of neighbouring
counties. You can see what you have on loan and when it is due
back. You can also renew and make reservations for books, CDs,
videos, DVDs etc. To do this, you need your library borrower number
and PIN number. Please ask in the library.
- Internet access
We have Nine internet terminals, for which there is a
charge. For current rates visit the IT
Zone.
- Space
....for study - Seating and space where you can relax and
browse.
- Display areas
Local groups may display posters advertising events in the area.
There is also a small area where organisations may advertise their
activities. Please book this space at the desk.

- People with poor sight
We have books in large print as well as audio books on cassette and
CD. Hire concessions for audio books are available for those
with visual impairment. Details on request.

- Housebound readers
For those unable to get to the library through age or infirmity the
Housebound Reader Service is available
on request.
This service is co-ordinated by the library and operated by a local
group of volunteers. Books are delivered to and collected from
reader's own homes and may be kept for a longer loan period.
Collections of books may also be available to residential or
sheltered homes, and so on. Further details on
request.

- Comprehensive help with all kinds of general
enquiries
Burgess Hill Library has a good collection of general
reference books, including some business directories to support our
information service. If we cannot answer an enquiry locally we will
refer it to one of our larger reference libraries.

There is a selection of resources on the history of the Mid Sussex
area, including the 1901 Census for Sussex, the 1982 IGI Index, and
a large collection of back copies of the Mid-Sussex Times. A
lot of the material is held in microform.
