Reading groups

What are reading groups?

Staff working in libraries are passionate about books and reading and if you share that passion, joining a reading group is a good way of engaging with like-minded people. Most groups are very informal, there are some groups just for lovers of crime novels or science fiction and groups for the visually impaired and disabled. Whatever you like to read, there is a reading group for you!

Please ask in your local library if there are groups in your area, or maybe you would like to start your own group, in which case, please see the downloads at the bottom of this page to download a copy of our Reading Group Pack.

We can help new groups by providing a reading group pack, special reading group tickets with free requests and longer loans. Ask at your local library for help and advice.

Library-based reading groups

Please be aware that as these groups are so popular, some may not be able to take on any new members at present.

As well as supporting private reading groups many of our libraries host groups themselves.
