Reading groups
Reading groups
What are reading groups?
Staff working in libraries are passionate about books and
reading and if you share that passion, joining a reading group is a
good way of engaging with like-minded people. Most groups are very
informal, there are some groups just for lovers of crime novels or
science fiction and groups for the visually impaired and disabled.
Whatever you like to read, there is a reading group for you!
Please ask in your local library if there are groups in your
area, or maybe you would like to start your own group, in which
case, please see the downloads at the bottom of this page
to download a copy of our Reading Group Pack.
We can help new groups by providing a reading group pack,
special reading group tickets with free requests and longer loans.
Ask at your local library for help and advice.

These are not necessarily recommendations of excellence but
books of which we hold multiple copies in stock (15 minimum). It
includes both fiction, non-fiction and biographies.
The list will be added to at regular intervals, so please keep
checking for new titles.
To view the list you will need Adobe Acrobat.
Useful links for reading groups
We have lots of useful links for reading groups - these range
from the Richard and Judy Book Club to information
provided by publishers like Bloomsbury and Penguin. To view the

Library-based reading groups
Please be aware that as these groups are so popular, some may
not be able to take on any new members at present.
As well as supporting private reading groups many of our
libraries host groups themselves.
Below is a list of all the library based reading groups, for more
information click on the library name or phone the library for more
