Traffic

  • Weight restrictions can be imposed for structural or for environmental reasons. It is a legal control on a specified vehicle weight or width, mainly on lorries, on certain roads and routes. The restriction prevents large vehicles from using inappropriate roads, routes and areas.
 
  • Information on advised lorry routes with a downloadable leaflet containing a map showing advisory strategic and local lorry routes recommended for use in West Sussex. Most of these routes are dual carriageway or modern single carriageways.

  • A Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) is a legal order that is required when we (as the Highway Authority) restrict or prohibit an activity on the highway. They include speed limits, weight limits, clearways and parking restrictions (amongst others) and are often referred to as a TROs.
