Adopted roads
Adopted roads are roads which are maintained at public expense
by the County Council. Private roads are unadopted and privately
maintained.
We maintain a database of all adopted roads. The database is
searchable through an online map browser that enables you to
identify which roads are maintained at public expense by West
Sussex County Council:
Click on the local information icon to view adopted roads. Roads
can be searched for by name, post code, address or, you can click
on the map to zoom down to the area required.
Please note that the map which appears on screen will identify
in blue (when displayed) those roads where all or part of the
highway is adopted. For more detailed information about the length
of the maintained highway, please click on the road status.
At a charge of £15 you can request an online search for Con29
highway replies. The search result does not include the extent of
adopted highways. Please contact the Local Land Charges Team for
further information on 01243 777190. Searches are normally returned
within 48 hours.
