Parking standards
In November 2003, we adopted Supplementary Planning Guidance
(SPG) that sets out parking standards for development in West
Sussex. In September 2010, a new approach to parking in residential
developments was adopted. Changes to the SPG which are affected by
the September 2010 changes have been highlighted in the
document.
The SPG sets out:
- revised parking standards for all development use classes;
- a contributions methodology to be applied to commercial and
residential development.
These standards were developed through 2 separate consultation
exercises. Planning policy guidance (PPG13 and PPG3) standards were
approved following consultation in July 2003. Parking standards for
all 'other' use classes were approved following consultation in
November 2003.
From September 2010, revised guidance applies to parking in
residential developments which are calculated on a site-specific
basis using a Car Parking Demand Calculator.
