Blue Badge reforms
On 14 February 2011 the Government announced a major programme
of reforms to the Blue Badge scheme, the most comprehensive changes
to the disabled parking scheme since its establishment in the
1970s.
The reform programme, including an increase in the price of the
issuing fee from £2.00 to £10.00, has been developed in
consultation with disabled people, local authorities and other
stakeholders. From the consultation it was evident that the scheme
needed to be modernised to reduce current levels of fraud and abuse
and also deal with future challenges.
Full details about the Blue Badge reform and a selection of
supporting documents are available on the Department for
Transport website.
