The Rural Strategy 2007 - 2017
The Rural Strategy Document
A Rural Strategy for West Sussex was produced in 1992 and since
then only the action plan has been updated. Changes in the National
and Regional context in rural strategy and policy meant that the
County needed an up to date strategy to help influence policy at
the national, regional and local level and to focus funding and
efforts on agreed priority areas.
To this end West Sussex Rural Partnership commissioned consultants,
Ecotec, to pull together a profile of rural West Sussex, a review
of policy and to start to develop a West Sussex Rural Strategy.
Input was invited from rural stakeholders to ensure that the aims
and action are right and to encourage them to agree to work
together on achieving the actions in the Strategy. The 3
documents are available in the Supporting documents below.
The consultation is now closed. Further information will be
available in due course.

information and providing an arena for debate.
The Forum has 3 key roles:
- Maximising funding for rural projects within the county
- Expanding the influence of the Rural Forum on key
decision-making bodies
- Monitoring and reviewing plans and policies that affect rural
communities.
