Pagham Harbour Local Nature Reserve
The transfer of the management of Pagham
Harbour Local Nature Reserve from West Sussex County Council to the
Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) was signed on 1
February 2012.
The 1,500 acre site has been managed as a
local nature reserve by the County Council since 1964 and its
facilities include a visitor centre. The Harbour attracts more than
200,000 visits a year and is a vital amenity for local
communities.
As part of the agreement, the County Council
will have an executive role and will guarantee an annual payment to
help support the service for the next 10 years. The staff who work
at Pagham Harbour have been transferred to the RSPB.
Information about Pagham Harbour and its events is now available
from the RSPB
website.
