About us (location, opening hours, closed days, facilities)
At the West Sussex Record Office we
collect and preserve the documentary and recorded heritage of the
County of West Sussex.
The collections include records of local government from
the sixteenth century, the Diocese of Chichester and its parishes
and those of businesses, families, estates, societies and
schools.
We also hold records of West Sussex hospitals, the West
Sussex Constabulary and The Royal Sussex Regiment.
Using the Record Office includes access for people with disabilities, information on Readers tickets, entry to the Searchroom, copies of documents, scanning of documents, publications, computers, photography and refreshments.
We can also supply high quality scanned copies on plain paper, subject to copyright and the condition of the document. Scanned copies are available in either A4 or A3 format at a cost of £10 and £20 respectively. With the acquisition of a new scanner we are now able to scan and print documents on plain paper from A3 up to A1 size at a cost of £40.
