What is One Way to Buy?
Overview
In October 2010 West Sussex County Council (WSCC) implemented a
'One Way to Buy' (OWTB) policy to purchase goods and/or
services. This policy means all council staff must give you a
specific purchase order number for any goods or services they
request from your company before you supply
them.
As part of this new system, we created a
dedicated Accounts and Purchasing Team. This team is
responsible for raising purchase orders, processing invoices for
payment, maintaining our supplier database and resolving any
purchasing and invoicing queries you may have.
What are the benefits of ‘One Way to Buy’ for you?
- Improved efficiency by West Sussex County Council when
purchasing.
- Purchase orders, remittances and supplier (vendor)
correspondence is electronic and therefore speedier and
sustainable.
- There is a single email address for all invoices, leading to
prompt payment.
- A single team to resolve queries.
Exceptions
If you supply Children’s or Adults’ social
care services, please liaise directly with your WSCC contact for
more information, as we have a slightly different process for these
types of purchases.
The council may also purchase from you using a
Purchase Card (P Card). Payment by P Card means you can
receive payment for the goods and/or services you have supplied
within 4 working days of delivery. Please see the Purchasing card page for more information.
