What is the RDPE LEADER grants programme?
The LEADER (Liaison Entre Actions de Development
de l'economie Rurale - integrated action for rural development)
programme aims to:
- improve the competitiveness of farming and forestry;
- support a diverse and successful rural economy; and
- develop vibrant and thriving rural communities.
There is £3.93 million available to help farmers, growers,
foresters, small businesses and rural communities in Sussex and
East Hampshire. The money is part of the Rural Development
Programme for England (RDPE) and has been awarded to
LEADER
by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
(DEFRA).
There are 2 LEADER programmes in Sussex and East Hampshire
covering:
- the Sussex Downs and Low Weald area, including rural parts
of Brighton & Hove and Lewes Districts; and
- the Three Harbours and Coastal Plain area of West Sussex and
East Hampshire.
The programmes will run until December 2013.
