Traffic Calming

Traffic Calming is a term used for measures that affect or influence the movement of vehicles and other traffic. It is used to promote safety while also preserving or improving the environment.

These pages explain how we prioritise traffic calming schemes, give details about past schemes and information about current and planned schemes. There will also be the chance to view plans and comment on the proposals put forward for new schemes.

Current Situation & New Schemes

The final design for improvements to Lyndhurst Road in Worthing is now in place and works are programmed for construction before the end of the financial year.   Click on the link for more information.

Eastgate area of Chichester is in the final stage of construction.  Click on the link for more information.

Statutory Consultation had been undertaken for two new schemes programmed for construction during 2009/10.  These are both in Worthing:  Heene Road and Columbia Drive.  Once comments have been assessed and we have a preliminary design, we will be consulting with local residents and asking for their comments.   Details will also be available on our website with links to the proposal plans.  Responses received will be analysed and where possible included in the final designs to aid casualty reduction at these locations.

See Traffic Calming Schemes in West Sussex for full details on current and past schemes.
