On-Street Enforcement
West Sussex County Council is responsible for controlling parking on the highway and currently covers the cost of most of the traffic wardens who act under police powers to enforce on-street parking regulations throughout the districts of Adur, Arun and Chichester as well as the Borough of Crawley.
We have adopted a strategy in which District Councils will be offered the opportunity to undertake on-street enforcement on behalf of us. Other traffic management functions that traffic wardens can carry out will not be transferred under Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE), therefore control in these areas could be reduced.
These pages explain 'Civil Parking Enforcement' (CPE) what the police's involvement is, what to do if you find an obstruction on the highway and how to report abandoned vehicles.
