The Record Office acquires, preserves and makes publicly available the documentary and recorded heritage of the county. Anyone may use the service and access to the documents at the County Record Office is free of charge, but postal, telephone and e-mail requests for information may be subject to a charge. The majority of our catalogues are now available on-line via the Record Office Search Online.

West Sussex Record Office has been awarded four stars in the 2008 assessment system of local authority archive services by The National Archives. This  places the Office in the top 10% of record offices in England and Wales.
