6. Forms, Information and Links
This web page contains the guidance notes and application forms related to some of the topics covered elsewhere on the public rights of way website. A page of public rights of way and access to the countryside links is under construction.
First, the maintenance of structures on public rights of way is the responsibility of the respective landowner or manager. West Sussex County Council has a policy of least restrictive access, therefore any new structures that are considered must be appropriately consented to.
Second, a public right of way is a highway in law that are legally recorded on the definitive map and statement. Any proposal to legally ammend this document, such as with public path orders like diversions and extinguishments, needs be done through a formal application procedure.
