The Sustainable Community Strategy
West Sussex County Council has worked with partners to develop a Sustainable
Community Strategy (SCS) for the county on behalf of theWest Sussex Strategic Partnership (now the Public Service Board).
The SCS sets out a vision for the county and identifies the aspirations of communities and individuals throughout West Sussex.
The SCS was endorsed by County Council on 10th October 2008 and replaced the previous West Sussex Community
Strategy and leads the partners in preparing action plans, investment programmes and implementing the second
Local Area Agreement (LAA2).
The Government has required that the WSSP produces the SCS and that stakeholders
observe a "duty to co-operate" in the process. In West Sussex, this includes the Strategies prepared by each Borough and District Council.
The "Big Picture" notes provide background information leading up to the start of the consultation.
