Press Release

A GREAT garden giveaway will be held by Better Tomorrows at the public launch of two Greening Campaigns on Saturday October 3.

Better Tomorrows is the community interest group that aims to reduce the amount of rubbish we throw away.

It will be giving away a hundred 220-litre compost bins on behalf of West Sussex County Council and all the District and Borough Councils at the launch of:

· Littlehampton Greening Campaign, which is being held by Littlehampton Town Council at Connaught Junior School (York Road entrance, Connaught Road, Littlehampton, between 11am-3pm.
· Stedham and Iping Greening Campaign, which is taking place at Stedham Memorial Hall, The Street, Midhurst, between 10am and 3pm.

Deborah Urquhart, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for the Environment will be attending the Littlehampton launch.

She said: “We’re delighted to be backing these campaigns, which are community based initiatives that encourage residents to reduce their carbon footprint by undertaking some simple yet effective energy saving challenges. It’s about communities working together to make a difference.”

The 100 composters will be given away at each of the events on a first come first served basis.

Better Tomorrows representatives will also be available to give advice about what can and cannot be composted to promote the prevention of waste.

Deborah said: “Growing your own vegetables is a first class greening activity. It’s good for your health, is physically active and gives you plenty of fresh air.

“It also saves you money and reduces packaging. When you grow your own vegetables you eat with the seasons, enjoying what each one has to offer, there are no food miles involved to get the produce to your table.”
