West Sussex County Council: Food Law Enforcement

We have an important role in protecting the consumer with regard to food.

We work with all food businesses from farms through to manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers to ensure that the composition, quality, labelling, advertising and presentation of food comply with food laws.

We carry out our food roll jointly with the Environmental Health Officers of the District and Borough Councils. They are responsible for issues such as;

• Foreign bodies in food
• Food poisoning
• Food hygiene
