What are the rides like?
The Sussex Weald is rugged in the north east, but towards the South Downs it becomes gentler.
- The Blue ride, together with the Blue short-cut and brown/yellow rides are all hilly and the main difference between them is the distances.
- The Brown ride is challenging from Staplefield to Ardingly. The rides include unavoidable sections of main road though mostly on quiet lanes or purpose-built routes.
- The Red, Green and Purple rides are in the middle and south of the area. The Red ride has four sharp climbs and sections on B-roads. The Green ride has one sharp climb and one longer, steady one on the B2114.
- The Purple ride is the easiest and there are no major hills or difficult main roads.
