West Sussex County Council: Advisory lorry routes

The Advisory Lorry Route map (available under Downloads) shows advisory strategic and local lorry routes recommended for use in West Sussex.  Most of these routes are dual carriageway or modern single carriageways.

Lorry drivers.

We ask drivers and operators to use the routes shown on this map along with the guidelines. We also ask drivers to avoid high engine revving in built up areas, to park only in places designated for lorry parking, and to keep to speed limits.

The map is part of a freight strategy operated by us. Other elements of the strategy include:

• a priority assessment of lorry problem areas both on and off the advisory lorry network;
• the use of measures, where appropriate to reduce the impact of the lorry;
• influencing the location of developments which generate lorry traffic.
