Introduction to our Website!
West Sussex Record Office collects and preserves the documentary and recorded heritage of the County of West Sussex.
The collections include records of local government from the sixteenth century, the Diocese of Chichester and its parishes and those of businesses, families, estates, societies and schools.
It also holds records of West Sussex hospitals, the West Sussex Constabulary and The Royal Sussex Regiment.
Please Note: The majority of our catalogues are now available on-line via the Record Office Search Online.
Important Notice: In March 2010, much needed work will be done on the refurbishment of the Reception area of the Record Office. This will mean that the public toilets will not be available, and at certain stages of the work, the Record Office may have to be closed. If you are intending to visit the Record Office during March, please telephone beforehand (01243 753602) to check whether we will be open.
