Newspapers and Magazines

The Library Service provides free access to a variety of printed and online newspapers and magazines.

Daily Newspapers

A current daily national and local weekly newspaper is available in all libraries.

A wider range of current newspapers and magazines, including some back issues are available in the main libraries. The online library catalogue holds details off all titles available.

Access to electronic versions of newspapers and magazines are available via The Electronic library, in all libraries. These include:

News UK which provides access to a collection of 67 national and local as well as some magazines. The service is updated every weekday, with most popular British newspapers being added the day after publication.

Which? the consumers magazine, is available in both printed and electronic formats.

Times Digital Archive provides an online historical archive of the newspaper from 1785 - 1985. It delivers every page as published from 200 years of this famous newspaper. This is only available in Worthing, Chichester, Horsham and Crawley libraries.

Historic local newspapers and magazines are provided by the Local Studies Service.

If you are looking for more specialist magazines, try searching the Sussex Periodicals List (SUSPER). This has details of periodicals held at libraries in:

  • City College Brighton & Hove
  • Princess Royal Hospital
