Walking West Sussex Festival comes to Amberley

1st-5th October 2008

Amberely Working Museum will be hosting this year's Walking Festival, the 6th year of this popular event.  Located 4 miles (6.5km) north of Arundel, and easily accessible by public transport, the Museum is a 36 acre open-air site dedicated to the industrial heritage of the south-east. It contains a wide range of exhibits, including transport and industry-based collections, and is also home to a number of resident crafts-people who work to traditional methods.

• Set in the charming Arun Valley where the river winds its way through the glorious South Downs, the area has some truly beautiful scenery and an amazing network of footpaths offering some of the best walking in the country.
• Whether it's a full day's walk or an entertaining stroll, followed by a picnic on the river bank or lunch at the Museum's restaurant, there will be something for all ages and all abilities.
• There will be guided walks on each of the five days, varying in length and difficulty, some with pub stops.
• Your registration fee includes entry to Amberley Working Museum and an opportunity to see traditional skills in their original settings and learn something of our industrial past.
• There will be a free shuttlebus from the Festival base to/from the start/end of the walks, where required.

Our featured walks will give you the opportunity to:

• Take the escape route of Charles II along a part of the Monarch's Way
• Learn about life before mobile phones and the car
• Discover villages and villas from times past
• Experience the autumn splendour of the Sussex Downs
• Explore the river - its past, present and future
• Be amazed by the wonders of woodland and wildlife.
